Piedra and Engstrom (2009) noted how the life model “remains general and unspecific regarding factors that affect immigrant families” (p. 272). Recall that there will never be one or a model that can fully explain a phenomenon or lay out all the steps and procedures when working with complex issues that clients present to social workers. Recognizing this, Piedra and Engstrom selected another theory in the immigration literature—segmented assimilation theory. They identified concepts from segmented assimilation theory to “fill in” the gaps that the life model does not address. In this Discussion, you examine gaps in the life model by applying it to your field experience. To prepare: : Using an example from your fieldwork experience and a diverse population you encountered at the agency (for example, in Piedra and Engstrom’s article, it was immigrant families), respond to the following: Population will need to be (children of inmates) Purchase the answer to view it Purchase the answer to view it

For this discussion, you will be submitting an original post of at least 250 words and a reply post of at least 100 words. Post your original discussion as well as a reply post of at least 100 words. Raising children today is not easy. Their health is impaired by diet, lack of exercise, environmental toxins, and stress. They are subject to bullies in school, negative influences in the media, and they are pressured to grow up too fast. Technology has exposed children to so much more than they used to be exposed to. Given all of these impacts, discuss the factors that lead to raising children. What would you do to raise your children to be well-adjusted physically and emotionally? How would you handle the attraction of technology in your household? Support your discussion with readings from the textbook or other authoritative sources found via the College Library. Cite your sources (APA style). Remember the criteria for the discussions:

Was Stanley Milgram’s Study of Disobedience Unethical.. The article on Milgram’s study of obedience captures and defends his stance on the assumption that one’s situation at a given time dictates how they will respond to orders from a person in authority.  The study conducted by Milgram consisted of 40 males varying in age from 20 to 50 years, from varied backgrounds and employment.  Many will and have argued that Milgram’s study was unethical due to the use of a fake machine and trained “learner”.  However, I beg to differ based on the forthcoming information that was provided initially.   The participants in Milgram’s study voluntarily agreed to the experiment, for which they were also compensated.  Participants were also informed that they would be paid just for showing up.  Also, the participants were debriefed after the experiment and introduced to the learner in an effort to ensure no psychological damage was done. Oftentimes, research is based on deception, hence “the Placebo Effect”.

Before completing this discussion, be sure to review Chapter  in your text and the Changing Families (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. video. You may also want to read the recommended article, “Current Patterns of Parental Authority”.  After examining the research in human development presented in your required resources, complete the following discussion:   Baumrind (1971) identified different styles of parenting.  Examine a parenting style and define it according to the dimensions of responsiveness and acceptance. Discuss the outcomes of the parenting style you selected with respect to child and adult development.  How are the outcomes of the parenting style you selected similar or different from those of another parenting style? Your initial post must be at least 300 words and use a minimum of one scholarly source located in the Ashford University Library or on Google Scholar that is cited and referenced according to APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center to support your argument.

Underrepresented groups in the United States carry a significant and disproportionate burden of specific diseases. For example, while African Americans make up only 12% of the U.S. population, this group accounted for 44% of all HIV/AIDS cases in the United States in 2010 (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2013). In 2010, spanics were 1.2 times (Office of Minority Health, 2012) more likely to be obese and almost 2 times (Office of Minority Health, 2013) more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than their non-spanic white counterparts. There has been much discussion about the type of effective interventions for promoting well-being and improving health outcomes in all Americans, especially for underrepresented groups. Medical social workers excel at providing direct services to individual patients. Given current efforts to shift the paradigm to population-centered interventions, social workers must modify their skills, broaden their perspective, and consider evidence-based interventions. , select a public health issue of interest to you (e.g., obesity, diabetes, cancer, HIV/AIDS, mental health).

Language is often a central element of many cultures. Language learning presents many milestones in language development. The majority of the world learns one language if not more. However, parenting language practices vary around the globe. Remarkably, despite diversity in child-rearing all children typically learn a language following the same steps and sequence and at about the same pace, even though the actual languages spoken differ. Some aspects of language learning are similar across cultures. For instance, in child-directed speech, adults tend to utilize simple words, a slow pace, and a sing-song soft melodious pattern when speaking with young children; such speech assists children in learning a language. For this Discussion, you will explore the advantages and challenges of language development in birth to adolescent development. Review the Learning Resources for this week and consider the following situation: an explanation of at least two potential challenges this student might face. Further explain the advantages this student’s linguistic background might offer.

Conduct a 20-minute informal interview with an adult family member, peer, or co-worker. In this interview, you will practice the introduction and opening phase of a clinical interview from the clinical interviewing text. This will not be video-recorded. Request that the individual introduce superficial issues related to career, education, relationships, or time management. Include the following in your report: •An overview of interview preparation to establish a therapeutic relationship (initial contact, demonstration of core conditions, ethical and cultural considerations, physical setting, and so on). •A summary of interviewer tasks and technical approaches for the introduction and opening phase. Incorporate the Clinical Interviewing text and at least one academic research article in this section. •Documentation of the clinical session applying the SOAP format. •A self-evaluation of the applied interviewer tasks and the use of nondirective interviewing during the introduction and opening phase

Throughout the HSBE I and II courses, you have explored the biological, psychological, and sociological aspects of different phases of the human life span. You have explored life-span development theories that help to explain human behavior. You also have considered how the social environment influences individuals and their behavior. Gathering facts about a client’s life span through the interview process is an important social work skill. This week, you practice this skill by interviewing an older adult using the questions in the Life Span Interview document available in this week’s resources. For this week’s Assignment you transform your interview notes into a narrative—that is, a life story—of the older adult you interviewed. You interweave within this narrative an of the life story by applying person and the environment concepts to your understanding and interpretation of that story. a 3- to 4-page paper in which you provide a narrative analysis of the Life Span Interview you completed. The Constitution states, “The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States…” (Art. I, Sec. 2). Contrast this with the original constitutional language for the other house of Congress, “The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof for six Years…” (Art. I, Sec. 3). The phrase “chosen by the Legislature” was changed to “elected by the people” by the 17th Amendment, but not until 1912. In other words, from the beginning the House of Representatives was intended to be exactly what its name suggests –representative of the people. (Note that in 2010 the Tea Party, and some Republican politicians, called for repeal of the 17th Amendment, eliminating the popular vote for Senators. While most Republican politicians have backed away from that view, many Tea Party chapters continue to demand its repeal.) Purchase the answer to view it

The warning must first be noticed, then read and understood. For example, a stick figure could be performing an ambiguous action and have an “X” through it. You therefore understand that while you are not supposed to perform some action, you do not understand what that action actually is. Give two examples of a poor warning. Did you understand them? Janet has been seen by you for treatment of depression. On intake, she disclosed that she was in AA and had been sober for 6 months. Janet seems to be happy with her progress, but after a few sessions, she seems to be noncommunicative and upset. After six sessions, she discontinues therapy with you. You learn that she has engaged another counselor who treats alcohol use and the co-occurring disorders. This morning you received notice from your licensing board that Janet filed a complaint against you alleging that you attempted to treat Janet’s addiction to alcohol and that you did not have the expertise necessary to do so. You are a Licensed professional counselor but you have not obtained training in addictions. Based on this information, answer the following questions: 1.Does Janet have a valid complaint? Why or why not? 2.How would you respond to the Licensing board complaint? 3.How would you avoid this type of complaint in the future?

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE ASSIGNMENT! According to studies of graduates of bachelor-degree programs in psychology, entry-level positions tend to pay relatively little and may be relatively unsatisfying. Although the positions, pay, and reported job satisfaction of psychology majors tend to significantly improve many years after graduation, those who enter the workforce immediately upon graduation risk at least a few years of less-than-satisfactory employment (Landrum & Elison-Bowers, 2009; Rajecki & Borden, 2011). Although graduate school can be a route to a better paying, more satisfying job, and career, it is quite expensive. A doctoral degree results in most students entering into debt for as much as $75,000 to $200,000 (Stringer, 2016). The median debt incurred for a master’s degree is approximately $25,000 (Kantrowitz, 2011). Using your textbook, the Internet, and the Argosy University online library resources, research possible choices, such as entering the workforce immediately upon graduation, or enrolling in a graduate school. Based on your research, respond to the following:

1. Needs to be completely (100%) original work; I use copyscape, and an additional third party checker. 2. & 3. It must be completed by no later than 7 P.M. Eastern Stadard Time today/tonight (07/27/2013), and I need to get a 100 and/or a very near perfect score on it, so that means the paper needs at least one APA reference – with a clear link to it (One reference is fine for me). Moreover, there is about eight hours from this initial posting, to get this done, and that is why I am offering so much (Since it is a bit of a rush job). Yet, it is ot that hard, so I think it is fair. In addition, there are quite a few papers, floating aroud, online that could be used as a template and/or rough-draft to get ideaas on it. However, as stated, I need ORIGINAL work and good work. Lastly, APA style! Thank you in advance

discussion question: One of the issues faced this week is the notion of what is a “personality” and how is it defined. In your view and based on the reading, how would you define it?? Reply to this student’s post : Hello, class. Based on the reading and my understanding of the topic, I would define personality as personal characteristics, which could be influenced by situations and time. Obviously, personality is very important because sometimes it can predict a person’s behavior. But it is necessary to understand that any of us can have completely different behavior, communicating with different groups of people. More than that, one more example, which makes me think that personality depends on the situation is that there is no secret that the relatives of the most cruel criminals usually characterize them as kind and helpful people. In my view, it proves that personalities are individual behavioral patterns, which can be influenced by the situation or experience.

You may have been drawn to social work because of a desire to help a specific population or to address certain social problems. You may already possess a large amount of knowledge related to these populations or problems based on past work experience, personal history, or academic studies. But as you also may know, a social worker cannot assume a client’s experience based on an identity category. Individuals hold multiple, intersecting identities, which influence their unique experience. This is why research and evidence-based practice are essential to social work. You and your colleagues may have interests in different fields of social work practice or may be interested in assuming different social work roles. However, all will need foundational knowledge and skills related to understanding how the environment affects individual experience, assessing the influence of diversity and difference, and applying advocacy on behalf of client welfare and social justice. For this Discussion, you consider these issues with your colleagues. To prepare:

For this Assignment, you will attend an Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meeting either in your area (in person) or online (resources are provided below). To attend an online NA/AA meeting: a 2-page paper explaining the template provided. In this Discussion, you will discuss how risk and protective factors help decide an appropriate level of prevention for clients. The risk factors differ by special population membership (e.g., young adult) and by individual risk factors (e.g., drug experimentation). Please discuss the following: Explain the three levels of prevention. Describe one of the prevention models (chapter 16) including information about level of prevention, history of the program, and its reported effectiveness. Purchase the answer to view it

Gender identity—identifying oneself as male or female—is a critical component of an individual’s life-span development. Misconceptions and stereotypes abound with regard to gender, and you may bring personal misconceptions and stereotypes to your work with clients. Ethics Code When discussing the various subfields of applied psychology, we will often refer to the terms “scope of practice” and “competency.” In this three- to four-page paper (about 1,050-1,400 words, excluding title page and references): Describe what is meant by “scope of practice,” going beyond a simple definition to analyze how it impacts the relationships between different subfields of psychology. Describe the importance of competency and competency benchmarks, analyzing their role in defining the differences between students, interns, and professionals in the various subfields of psychology. Compare and contrast the APA and ACA ethical codes and credentialing guidelines, and then analyze the reasons behind their commonalities and differences. Does scope of practice and competency benchmarks inform or explain any of these differences? What other elements can illuminate your analysis? In addressing each of the above questions, support your analysis and construct your arguments by citing references from course readings and at least one peer-reviewed journal article from the recommended

Kids and Competency Psychologists often provide recommendations regarding criminal justice practices in an effort to implement more effective reforms. Although each state has provisions for a juvenile justice system due to the fundamental differences between children and adults, many of those states utilize the adult competency standards to determine if a child is able to stand trial for an offense. The National Juvenile Justice Network has produced policy guidelines to help states create separate statutes for determining the competency of a juvenile. After reading “ ,” as part of your weekly reading assignment, locate and analyze the statutes in a state of your choice (i.e. your state of birth or where you would like to live). State statutes can be found . In your chosen state, did the legislature already create a separate standard for juveniles? Does the adult competency statute mention any differences for juveniles? How would you advise your local politician regarding this issue? Please use APA format.

The lectures talked about the value of integrating psychology and our Christian faith in counseling. When you think of the area of human services counseling, per se, what do you think are the most important points made in the lecture that would encourage you to look for ways to use both psychology and theology/Christian spirituality in your human services counseling? Even if you work in a secular setting (such as a community mental health center) how can you utilize some of the elements of a “Christian” counseling approach (as defined in the lecture) in all human services counseling settings? Put another way, how could you argue that in answering the question “what is the solution to our problems” we should draw from both psychology and theology/spirituality, rather than just one worldview perspective? In your answer, demonstrate that you are reflecting on solid concepts from the lectures; cite the lectures correctly as directed in the discussion board instructions documen 150 words

Provide a substantive contribution that advances the discussion in a meaningful way by identifying strengths of the posting, challenging assumptions, and asking clarifying questions. A null hypothesis “is an algebraic statement that some population parameter has a specific value” (Warner, 2013). In research a null hypothesis is used for looking at the correlation between variables and invalidate the statistical analysis or cross check the results. Null hypothesis is expressed as H0. An alternative hypothesis also known, as “research hypothesis” is the one that represents a different outcome than the one describe in the null hypothesis (Warner, 2013).  Alternative hypothesis is express as Ha. An example could be trying to find out if 7th graders study for 3 hours a day. The null hypothesis would be that 7th graders study for 3 hours a day. The alternative hypothesis would be 7th graders do not study for 3 hours a day. References Warner, R. M. (2013). (2nd ed.). Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage.

A whistleblower, by definition, is someone who brings an unethical, immoral, or illegal business practice to the public’s attention. Whistleblowers have a difficult time in doing this, and they often find their lives changed because of their actions. Sometimes they are shunned and receive death threats. It is common for the family members to feel the effects of a whistleblower’s behavior. Dr. Jeffrey Wigand became one of the best-known whistleblowers after his experience was turned into a movie, The Insider. He proved that tobacco companies were deliberately boosting the nicotine content of cigarettes, making them more addictive and cancer causing. However, like other whistleblowers, he suffered from tremendous stress and received death threats and other forms of intimidation for doing the right thing. How did Dr. Wigand show moral intelligence in this situation? Jeffrey Wigand put his economic future as well as coworkers and his family at risk to expose the tobacco companies. Would you have done the same thing?

When pieces of cloth are sewn together, you might have trouble discerning the individual pieces of cloth that make the final garment, but by looking carefully, you can find the seams. You may have experienced similar difficulty in the first week of this course when asked to explore the individual aspects of culture that combine to create your unique self-identity. Forms of oppression can come together often in almost imperceptible ways to form the complex environment in which you and your clients live and interact. As a social worker, you must examine carefully the intersections between religious discrimination, sexism, classism, and racism so you can respond accordingly.  Consider this week’s resources that describe how religion intersects with other forms of oppression.  your response to those resources and analyze what you think is the role of religion in reinforcing sexism, classism, and racism. Solution-focused therapy is an intervention that emphasizes finding solutions to client problems rather than focusing on the root of the actual problems. One of the major principles of solution-focused therapy includes the assertion that talking about problems with clients is not productive. For example, if a client experiences homelessness, solution-focused therapy might focus on concrete steps to immediately secure housing rather than focusing on understanding the root of the client’s problem. Solution-focused therapy is different from other therapies and is sometimes controversial. Some scholars question the validity of the solution-focused therapy due to its narrow focus on solutions. because using a paper for two different classes is unethical for many reasons. First of all, you may be not cheating on your classmates, but you are cheating on yourself. Indeed, you are not really learning anything by not doing the work. Also, doing self-plagiarism is being dishonest with your teacher. When a teacher gives a grade, it is based on the student’s understanding of the course and on the effort he puts in the paper. He is showing neither of those two by resubmitting a paper from another course. Finally, it is a certainty that, if this student would do the paper as asked, he would not write the same sentences and ideas as on his previous paper and therefore would not get the same grade. Maybe it would be greater, maybe it would be less. The point is that it would (probably) not be the same grade. For all these reasons, using the same work twice is unethical
